Rainbow Art Journal Page

Tonight’s page is very bright.

The page started as a grey background that I cleaned a variety of stencils (in various colours) onto. I then dropped Golden fluid acrylics onto it and spread them across the page. Finally, for the background, I sprayed on some Dylusion inks in the pink and turquoise.

I’m really in love with the bright colours of the background!

The final step was adding the doodling. It’s a pretty, fun page.

There’s so much potential in every new night of arting. So much potential to become something amazing.

Tonight I decided to build texture. Layers of old book pages, textured drywall tape, and cheesecloth made up the base of this page. These were stuck down with Golden soft matte gel.

I then added spots of Golden crackle paste, journaling, and Golden gesso.

I used Distress Inks in browns and pinks and Dylusion spray ink in green to add the colours. I then added a bit of doodling and the page title.

I used a scrap of burlap I painted white with the gesso as a base for the brass winged key.

Pretty happy with this one. I used limited products, scraps, and found objects to make this page. I think it turned out pretty cool.

Gold and browns and greens for today’s page. Another favourite colour combination.

I layered all of the colours and elements on today’s page over top of Tim Holtz melange tissue paper.

Materials Used:

  • Tim Holtz melange tissue paper

  • Golden matte medium
  • Distress Stains: ground espresso, vintage photo, mustard seed, peeled paint

I love the colour combination used in today’s page. I love it so much, I’ve used it many times.

Teals and browns and a honey orange colour. All of this, collaged over more antique book pages. These ones are from the Prologue to the Canterbury Tales by Chaucer.

I love these old book pages and am glad to be putting them in my art.

I started by gluing the book pages down with Golden matte medium then gessoed over too with a light wash of Liquitex professional gesso. I then started adding the sprays in layers until I was happy. I used Distress Stains, Dylusions, and Heidi Swapp sprays.

Using a couple of stencils, I used a baby wipe to lift the colours and create this washed out look.

I then added the embellishments and title.

The cheese cloth and leftover bit of book page where glued down with Golden soft matte gel. The Recollections chipboard title (coloured with more of the same sprays) was stuck down in the same way. I then added the Stampendous Frantage Aged Marine embossing powder and recollections microbreads. I added a few drops from the spray bottles and I was done.
