the bright side journal page materials

Sometimes you just need bright colours and a nonsensical song. Today’s page was inspired by both Dr.Seuss colours and the Monty Python song because I needed cheering up.

It’s fun, it’s bright, it’s just what I needed to do on the Thursday of an incredibly long week.

 Materials Used:

  • Liquitex basics acrylic paint. All the colours. For real.
  • Staedtler triplus fineliner black pen
  • Dylusion and Tim Holtz stencils

And a cat to keep me company.

New Video: Follow Your Dreams Canvas

This is a few days later than I’d hoped, but here is my latest video. It’s a speed painting of the Follow Your Dreams Canvas from January 9th.

Day One, Here We Go!

I was so excited to start the new project, that I even filmed the process of making it. Of course, my video editing software has decided to fight with me all afternoon so it’s not done yet. However, the above little video of the still shots I got worked, so yay to that!

I’m happy to say, the first art piece is done, and already uploaded to the website. Here’s the link.

Here is the full list of materials (and where I got them) used in this project:

I will post the full length video as soon as I can!

Thanks for looking 🙂

What’s New?

So many things going on lately that it’s hard to keep up.

Finished my first 2 classes of my diploma program; while accounting kicked my butt, I still passed and got an A in my management class! I’ve started my 3rd class now, taxation, and will begin my 4th at the end of June. Just keep swimming, right?

Kicked of the craft season with our first Boyle Street Maker’s Faire in February which was, in my opinion, an amazing success. We’ve since done a couple of Mercer Collectives that have been just as great. We’re now closing in on our 2nd Boyle Street Maker’s Faire this Saturday and Sunday with a ton of new vendors, love music, a clothing swap and so many lovely artists, makers, and creators. It’s going to be a blast and I hope to see you there! Oh, here’s the event!

Opened both my Etsy shops up again. It’s been a while so I’m having to learn a bunch of stuff over again. If you’re interested, you can find them here and here.

Work is… work. It’s interesting at times, boring at others, and still a good place to go daily.

What else? Oh! Whirlwind trip to Toronto courtesy of Etsy Canada! It was a first team leader summit/introduction to Made in Canada Day, a Canada-wide craft show! It’ll be September 27th and yeah, it’s going to be good. I’ll do a full post up on Toronto in a few days.

There’s more going on (so much more) but it’s late and I have more work to do.

Mercer Collective is Tomorrow!

I’m pretty excited. It’s our first Mercer Collective of 2014!

There’s going to be a huge selection of handmade vendors – 40+ vendors! Handmade jewelry, clothing, food, accessories, art, children’s stuff… So much amazing local talent.

Jewelry made for the Mercer Collective

There’s also going to be local music! Mathew James Potter is coming back to the Mercer Collective and he’s bringing a group of amazing local musicians with him! The musicians all belong to The Rhythm Group, based in St Albert, is a musician collective filled with talented individuals and groups.

The Mercer Collective takes place downtown Edmonton in Vacancy Hall (in the Mercer Warehouse) 10359 104 Street from 10-4pm.

See you there?

Spring Has Arrived?

Sure it has.
